The possibility of players past and present taking their own legal action against West Ham over the Tevez affair has provoked a bit of hostility in some quarters. A potential payout might see the players awarded around £250,000 each assuming the case was successful.
Unlike years ago players earn a very good living from football these days and are not short of a few bob so support for their case among the average fan might be a little thin on the ground. There is also the argument that perhaps the players could have done more themselves to avoid relegation.
There are plenty of sympathisers to the clubs pursuit of justice albeit there does not seem to be any among the London based media most of whom support West Ham anyway. If the players were to proceed with any legal action you would hope that it would not have an adverse affect on the clubs own case.
Good luck to the players in whichever course of action they decide to take but you have to draw the line somewhere otherwise there would be hundreds of supporters queuing up to sue West Ham for having to watch championship football for the past year and a half.
