United Sign Sun Jihai

The signing of utility player Sun Jihai from Manchester City will raise one or two eyebrows and there will inevitably be questions asked as to whether this is just another cynical marketing ploy to further the SUFC operations in China.

Sun Jihai is not the first Chinese player we have signed and he probably will not be the last although in the clubs defence he is without doubt the best so far and the most well known Chinese player in England with plenty of premiership football experience.

We have lacked a decent utility player for a few seasons now and he may well be the man to fill that void and after six years in the premiership with Man City he must have some quality about him indeed when ever I have seen him he has looked a decent player and the sort who would fit in well at the club.

It is interesting to hear that we apparently tried to sign him a couple of years ago but the move did not go through due to personal reasons.

He has signed a two year contract and at 30 years of age this could be his last in this country hopefully he will be able to make more of an impact than his countrymen before him.
