The Halford Loan Signing

Greg Halford
The signing of Sunderland defender Greg Halford on a season long loan is a sensible move and when it comes to bringing players in on loan deals the club has been guilty of not using the season long option enough.

Any player that is transferred a few times in a relatively short space of time is going to have questions asked about him but by all accounts he did a good job on loan at Charlton last season and he did look a quality player when he was with Colchester when Neil Warnock had an interest in signing him.

He does bring added versatility to the squad as apart from being a decent full back he can also operate on the right side of midfield as well as playing at centre half not to mention his ability with long throws in fact someone said to me the other day he was like a better version of Leigh Bromby.

Its a commonsense deal for both club and player we can have a look at him before commiting to a permanent contract and he has an opportunity at a big club to get his career moving again.
