Billy Up And Running

billy sharp
There was an impeccably observed minutes silence at the lane last night in memory of the late Derek Dooley which was a fitting and emotional tribute.

Last nights win over Coventry also saw Billy Sharp get off the mark with his first league goal which hopefully will be the first of many then after winning the penalty I half expected him to take it and notch his second league goal but Gary Speed seemed equally as keen and duly slotted it home albeit at the second attempt.

Us scoring two goals in a match is a bit of a novelty after the recent run we have had and after two wins on the trot the league table looks much better and if Kevin Blackwell can get the team producing more performances like the one last night we will be well clear of the relegation places furthermore he will probably have secured the managers job for himself permanently.

The championship has certainly been tight this year with no team able to run away with the division like we have seen in previous seasons and that makes it even more frustrating when you consider what might have been the automatic promotion places are at the time of writing occupied by none other than Bristol City and Stoke City which not many experts would have forecast prior to the start of the season.
